Biography

Born:  January 11, 1934
Died:  June 28, 2015
Age:   81
Paul Brian Beatty– a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Paul Brian Beatty born on January 11, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Southampton, NY on June 28, 2015. Relatives and friends are invited to call on O'Connell Funeral Home, 30 Little Plains Road, Southampton, NY 11968 Wednesday 3-8 PM. Funeral Mass Thursday 10:30 AM, Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Cremation Private.
Paul was predeceased by his loving parents, James and Bride Beatty, his brother, James Kevin Beatty, and his sister, Mary Denise Beatty.  He leaves his loving and caring wife of 53 years, Audrey; his devoted children Kathleen Beatty of East Hampton, NY, Paul Beatty Jr. of Garden City, NY, Maureen Duggan of Southport, CT, Kevin Beatty of Summit, NJ, and Maribeth Quinn of Garden City, NY and his caring daughter-in-laws and sons-in-law, Pam Beatty, Patrick Duggan, Meg Beatty, and Justin Quinn. He loved every moment of being a grandparent and was the proud “Papa” to 13 grandchildren, Bridget, Claire, and Kathleen Beatty, Conor, Kara, and Lizzie Duggan, Jack, Kevin, and Colin Beatty, and Michael, Emily, Drew, and Owen Quinn. Paul is also survived by his sister Patricia McNulty, and sister in-laws Connie Beatty and Sister Shamus Eileen Dwyer O. P.
Paul grew up in Queens, New York where he graduated from St. John’s Preparatory and later went on to attend Niagara University. He spent his summers as a life guard on the shores of Breezy Point, New York.  Paul was fortunate to have had a long and distinguished career in publishing and advertising field where he was a consummate sales leader, mentor to many, and a great provider to his family.  Paul volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Southampton, NY and was a long time active parishioner at St. Anne’s R.C. Church in Garden City, NY.   Paul was an avid golfer and member of the Southampton Golf Club, where he always enjoyed a fun game of golf with close friends and family.  Paul was especially fond of his summer vacation spot which eventually became his permanent residence – North Sea Beach Colony (NSBC) in Southampton, NY.  He took great pride in the life long memories created, shared, and treasured for each of his children and their respective families while living and visiting NSBC throughout their lifetimes and still today.  He was always at peace and always had a smile on his face while in NSBC and he proudly attributed this to the ideal beach setting the Colony is and most importantly to the very people that made up the Colony.
For Paul, his family and his faith were first, last, and always.  He lived his life fully, loved all, laughed often, was always humble, and made all around him better for having known him.  Paul was indeed a true Christian and a gentleman....he was a man of class, wisdom, and faith.
The Beatty family is forever grateful to all the doctors, devoted caregivers, drivers, neighbors, family, and friends that cared for Paul throughout his illness. They provided him encouragement, compassion, and a smile whenever most needed.  In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial donations to the following organizations that were dear to Paul and to the Beatty family: Sisters of Saint Dominic of Amityville, Att: Sr. Pat Koehler O.P., 555 Albany Avenue, Amityville, NY 11701, Southampton Hospital Regional Dialysis Center, 184 West Montauk Hwy., Hampton Bays, NY 11946.
